I once asked myself - can a printable calendar be truly different?
That question stayed with me for a long time. I sketched, experimented, and played with many formats: at first, it was a square divided into three months; then six months on each side. But something was missing - I wanted a form that would feel alive.
One day, I came across an image of a lunar calendar where the moon phases moved in a perfect circle. That moment sparked an idea - what if I placed the Gregorian months in a circle too? But I had one non-negotiable rule: my design had to be functional, not just beautiful.
Everything began with my original linocut print “The Kiss” - the Moon and the Sun gently touching, symbolizing day and night, light and darkness, nature and humanity - all united in love. Around this digital artwork, the circular calendar grid was born.
Each month remained in its familiar layout, but now the days flowed along the curve of a circle - elegant and natural. Later, I merged the lunar and Gregorian calendars into one - a balance of practicality and poetry. Each month includes four moon phases, so you can follow the rhythm of both time and nature. This lunar calendar is meant to be read clockwise - simple, yet with a touch of magic.
The first release appeared in 2020, in a digital format: aesthetic, accessible, and functional. I included printable versions, digital desktop wallpapers, and mobile backgrounds - so you can enjoy it anywhere. Over time, new editions appeared with other artworks and illustrations, each gaining its own admirers.
The design can even be flipped - it looks beautiful in every direction. True, the central artwork might appear upside down at times, but maybe that’s the point - to remind us that perspective is everything.
This year, I created the perfect rotating linogravure for it - “Eternal Love”, a dark, gothic original linocut inspired by the mystery of the moon itself. This year marks the first official release of this printable calendar - the 2026 edition.
